Microsoft's "Halo 3" breaks records with $170 million in 1st day sells

Sharp's New Blu-ray holds 1-terabyte of HD programs

New T-Mobile SideKick has 2X the resolution

T-Mobile will release the new Sidekick in October. Expect to see a higher-resolution, slimmer, and better looking Sidekick. According to the Associated Press, the Sidekick LX, built by Motorola, will boast a 3-inch screen and be priced at $300 with a two-year contract.

Today marks the official launch of the mobile version of MySpace. It will be an ad-supported version of the highly popular social-networking site. Previously, mobile MySpace versions have been available through premium services offered through providers such as AT&T and Helio. Microsoft 'Halo 3' wins high marks from reviewers

Early review results are in from Sunday on the highly anticipated game, Halo 3, for the Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming counsel. The gaming retail chain GameStop said that advanced orders for the game set an all-time record. Microsoft said they expect initial demands to surpass that of the 2004 version, Halo2, which racked in $125 million in sales just during the first 24 hours alone.

New Study: Opting for one high-def format could mean big losses for some

A new study by the Screen Digest reports revealed that their is room for both high-definition formats - Blu-ray and HD DVD. There is most definitely a profitable future in store for both formats in the consumer market segment. The Screen Digest also reported that movie studios opting to use only one format could lose out on a $270 million dollar market, just in 2008 alone!

Will HD DVD outsell Blu-ray in 2008?

Tom Adams, president of Adams Media Research, predicts the Toshiba's HD DVD format may pull ahead of rival Sony's Blu-ray format in 2008. His reasoning is due in part to cheaper prices and recently signed distribution deals with Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks. Sony's Blu-ray team is still combating by outselling Toshiba HD DVD in terms of software in the U.S. In addition, Walt Disney Co. is saying thumbs up to use Sony's Blu-ray format through its Disney Magical Blu-Ray tour.

PS3 mounts pressure on Wii

Sony puts pressure on Wii in Japan for the second consecutive month. Sales of Sony's PS3 gaming system in Japan have slashed in the Wii market share. Enterbrain reports Nintendo sold 245,653 units of the Wii during a four-week time period ending on August 26th, compared with 81,541 units of Sony's PS3.
