Panasonic Executives say "Blu-ray will succeed"

Panasonic executives announced the following statement at the CEATEC Japan 2007 show last week:

"The most direct remarks in roundtable discussions with the press were from Kazuhiro Tsuga, executive officer, who was reminded of his criticism of combination Blu-ray/HD DVD players in the past when he said that Panasonic "would never introduce such a stupid product." When asked if LG and Samsung’s combi introductions have changed Panasonic’s mind, he joked that they haven’t “like those stupid companies."

Our opinion: We also think Blu-ray will win the format battle. However, we don't exactly agree with Tsuga's remarks on the hybrid players. It is a great option for the consumer who isn't willing to gamble away $500 or more on a single format. Let's just pick a format and go with it already!
